They are piloting an experimental AI tool, Khanmigo, which leverages GPT-4 technology to assist both students and teachers. The goal is to ensure equal access to the benefits of AI, preventing a deeper digital divide in education.

- AI Tutoring: Khanmigo acts as a virtual tutor, guiding students through their courses and asking questions like a human tutor would. It is integrated into the classwork teachers are already assigning to students, providing help during class time. It can assist with various subjects, including math, AP exam preparation, vocabulary practice, and computer programming.
- Teacher Assistance: Khanmigo aims to reduce the administrative burden on teachers. It can assist with writing lesson plans, creating lesson hooks, writing exit tickets, and other time-consuming administrative tasks. The goal is to free up teachers’ time so they can focus more on their students.
- Khan Labs: Khan Labs is a new space for testing learning technology. Khan Academy is inviting their district partners to opt into Khan Labs to provide access to Khanmigo. This initiative aims to ethically and responsibly test the possibilities of AI in education, with the help of teachers and students who will provide valuable feedback.
